Learn How to more easily remove the blade boss from a lawn mower.
Tools/Parts Required
- Two Jaw Puller
- Bolt or Cylindrical Picec Of Metal
- Socket (To fit size of Two Jaw Pullers
- Pipe Wrench or Locking Pliers
Step 1.
Place bolt/piece of metal into the hole in the middle of the boss. Ensure that the diameter of the bolt/metal doesn’t exceed the size of the hole (it needs to sit inside).
Step 2
Align the two jaw pullers with the end of the bolt/metal and hook the pullers onto the boss.
Step 3
Attach the socket onto the two jaw pullers and tighten them in order to remove the boss. (hold the shaft with a pipe wrench/locking pliers if it is spinning).
Im replacing the motor and need to fit the boss to the new motor, very reluctant to use a hammer to fit to new crankshft. any suggestions?
Fitting the boss to a new motor should be relatively easy if both surfaces are clean, If you don’t want to use a hammer you can use a rubber mallet, Or you could use the blade carrier & nut to tighten the boss down, You would need to fill up the combustion camber with starter rope or a rag to stop the engine rotating while you did this.
