Honda Engine Model Naming Convention
Honda Engines use a standard model naming convention to identify the engine series, engine size (cc displacement), manufacturing location, and the engine type code. This can bee seen in the image to the right.
Honda Lawn Mowers
The model name and serial number of a Honda lawn mower is located on a metal plate on the back of the deck, behind the engine. For example:
Serial No: MAAA - 1033326
Engine Model Number
The model number of a Honda engine is printed on a sticker located on the engine cover or recoil assembly housing. All Honda engines model numbers start with "G", such as "G100, "GX610", or "GXV160". For some engines, you may also need to locate the serial number, which is normally stamped on the side of the engine.
Engine Type Code
The engine type code is stamped on the side of the engine near the serial number. The code consists of 4 characters, sometimes as asteriks (eg. QX** is a QX type engine)
Engine Serial Number
The serial number of a Honda engine is also stamped on the side of the engine. They have a 4 or 5 letter prefix, followed by a 7 digit number (eg. GCASK - 1005447).
