Step 1.
At the top of the catcher plate there is a metal bar (the spring sits on this bar), it must be removed for us to get the old spring off. To remove it just bend the metal tab on either side holding it in place and tap one end with a hammer – eventually the bar will stick out enough that you can grab it at one end and pull it out about halfway, until the spring may be removed.
Step 2
Now you can sit the new spring in place, with one end over the base and the other over the catcher plate, then tap the metal bar back into place.
Step 3
With the bar back in place test the catcher flap to ensure it is all working properly, then you can bend back the tabs at either end of the bar to keep it from moving.
It would be nice if you could show a photo of the underside of the catcher where the spring clips over the base.Maybe I’m using the wrong spring. My Victa model is AC052AA90
spring arms are on the outside ontop of the deck and flap. Theres left and right handed springs.. I know for my rover (late 80s) I have the wrong sided spring since they are no longer manufactured
